SENIOR NATURALIST
Responsibilities:
Senior Naturalists will serve as mentors and role models for the naturalists
with their teaching skills, knowledge of the environment, creativity, and
leadership. The primary responsibility of the Senior Naturalist is to oversee
the curriculum and field operations of the naturalists. This includes assisting
with and evaluating lesson plans, conducting and co-teaching environmental
education programs, and general program support. Secondary responsibilities
include assisting with the daily operations of the Environmental Center
including answering phones and completing paperwork, upkeep of program equipment
and areas, development and maintenance of nature trails, health and safety of
campers, extended program care, and supervising adult programs.
Qualifications:
-4 year degree in the natural sciences, environmental education or related
field.
-Experience as a naturalist and/or teacher
-Experience working with children
-Interest and enthusiasm about environmental education
-Self motivated, positive, organized, team player
-Leadership and communication skills
-First Aid and CPR certified
Dates of Employment:
-June 5th - August 13th (June 5th - June 10th mandatory staff training)
Compensation:
-$75/day plus housing
-Free participation in any of the adult guest lecture series programs

NATURALIST
Responsibilities:
Naturalists are responsible for up to 13 children ages 5-13 during week long
environmental education programs. Naturalists will work closely with Senior
Naturalists to develop lesson plans and successfully teach half day and full day
programs. Secondary responsibilities include assisting with the daily operations
of the Environmental Center including answering phones and completing paperwork,
upkeep of program equipment and areas, development and maintenance of nature
trails, the health and safety of campers, and extended program care.

-Educational background in the natural sciences, environmental education or
related field
-Experience working with children
-Interest and enthusiasm about environmental education
